Sounds like a big call to me (the time line that is) but scientists have invented a laptop battery that will give you around 30 years of juice without a single recharge.

The 'betavoltaic' battery (I hope 'betavoltaic' doesn't infer 'beta') are constructed from semiconductors and use radioisotopes as the energy source. It is expected these will be on store shelves in as little as 2 - 3 years.
