Evolution now a compulsory subject at England primary schools
Mikey 6 comments PollChalk one up for common sense, a recent shake up of the curriculum will see primary school children in England taught about evolution as a mandatory subject, along with British history.
A representative from the British Humanist Association says this is good news because "Evolution is arguably the most important concept underlying the life sciences" and that...
"Providing children with an understanding of it an early age will help lay the foundations for a surer scientific understanding later on."
Evolution is already taught in secondary schools, and the new curriculum requires primary schools to "investigate and explain how plants and animals are interdependent and are diverse and adapted to their environment by natural selection".
I think Professor Dawkins would be over the moon at this news.

The truth of evolution and its silly theories will be debated by Christian children in public schools, and many a good evolutionist teacher will be at a loss for explanations, will be confounded by creationist arguments and the word of God will be spoken in class
My children are ready for this fight.
