And the worst phone in the world is...

I've never owned an iPhone but I know it fails in many regards (only one app at a time - seriously?), and I don't know enough about them to know if cnet have made a justified call. What I do know is that on paper I think the iPhone is pretty vanilla compared to other modern phones, but it does win hands-down in the interface department.
What do you think?
I guess my standards for a phone are different. Does it make a phone call, is it clear? That's all I really need. Then again I'm against the norm on this, but I see them as electronic leashes. Sometimes I don't want to be found, I'm busy enjoying my life.
What I don't like about the iPhone is you don't really "own" it. You pay for it, you hold it, you suffer if it's lost - but Apple still makes the decisions about what you do with it. Want music - iTunes is your only choice. Video? See music. Want an application - better hope Apple doesn't have a competing one.
Want to hook it up to several other phones, by bluetooth? Sorry. Change providers? Nope can't do that, either. Connect it to multiple computers? No, out of luck there, too. Change your default sounds for messages? That's a no.
Worse still, you could get an application, only to have Apple later remove it from your phone, because they deem it "inappropriate".
I know you can "jail break" the phone and I know you can read up on how to work around several of the above - but why the hell should you have to? It's supposed to be *your* phone.
I think this Droid advert sums it up for some:

But it only allows you to manage the files, not edit the tags.

Thursday 5th November 2009 | 05:49 PMAs an iPhone user, after reading that review/analysis I can only say that I've only experienced one of the 5 or 6 problems the writer has listed (low battery life, which isn't really a "may or may not happen to you" sort of problem).
The final paragraph does clarify attention grabbing headline, so for me it's another YMMV situation. The iPhone satisfies my needs. :P
