Norwegians encouraging the death of IE6
Mikey 5 commentsNow here's another movement I can get behind. Oh wait, I already started is last year! While I'm definitely not the first person to do this, it's good to see the Norwegians are taking the same stance on Internet Explorer 6 as I.
According to this Wired article, several Norwegian web sites have started a campaign urging Internet Explorer 6 users to upgrade to a better browser.
For those not in the know, Internet Explorer 6 is the most dreadful web browser ever, with useless web standard support, inconsistent rendering, and a nightmare for web developers. I'm not even comfortable calling it a web browser. It's really the bane of our existence and needs to die the miserable death it so rightfully deserves.
If you've ever visited this site in IE6, you will have no doubt seen this message...
...which directs you to this page.
My hat off to the Norwegians. If you own a web site, and care about the future of the Internet, please consider doing the same.
...in response to this comment by Kim OJ. Yes it is.
I hate the computers at work that have IE6, and only IE6 on them. It's horribly out-dated. Unfortunately they're on computers you have no Admin rights to, so you're SOL.
