400gb of NIN concert footage for free
Mikey 5 commentsIf you're into NIN, and you've got a reasonable internet connection with plenty of bandwidth, here is some news for you.
Trent Reznor has released, via NIN's owen torrent tracker, over 400gb of high definition concert footage for fans to do with as they please. The idea is that you can edit, mash remix the footage any way you see fit and then of course share it. Kudos.
I don't mind the occasional NIN, but I think I'll wait for Radiohead to do the same :-)
For those game enough, here is a rough guide to how long it will take you to download this file assuming you are able to attain full speed the entire time.
- 25,000kbps ADSL: 34 hours, 34 minutes
- 10,000kbps ADSL: 88 hours, 53 minutes
- 1,500kbps ADSL: 575 hours, 42 minutes.
- 56k dialup: 15873 hours
Oh the hilarity.
It seems in the last year or so that every time this man does something news worthy it is to once again note that sharing music and other cultural offerings should be something shared freely amongst all people. I may not be that much of a fan of his music but I gaining more and more respect for the man.
Another respectable career move for Trent. Does this guy ever do anything wrong?
...in response to this comment by The Computer Whisperer. I think his 'stick it to the man' attitude goes a long way as well. I mean to distribute content on the very same medium that record companies despise is just awesome. Like his music or not you have to admire his method.
LOL @ 56k = 1 year, 296 days.
