Rocky Horror Picture Show To be remade. WTF?

I had posted a topic to get everyone's feel for the idea of remakes and I personally am against the idea but can admit there have been a couple notable exceptions to the remake rule. However this latest news made this movie whore twitch like nothing ever has. It took me 5 minutes to even be able to speak after reading

Lou Adler, exec producer of the original film, is partnering with Berman Braun and Fox Television Studios on the new rendition.

See the original article here for yourself and feel free to comment on this Cult Legend being remade. Whether you like Rocky Horror or not you can not deny the effect it has had over the years and the legendary status this movie has achieved.

With that said there is only one actor that could even come close to playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter and that is Will Keenan. Will has worked with legendary B-Movie director/producer and independent film crusader, Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment.

In the film Terror Firmer Will had a few scenes at the end of the movie in which his performance was reminiscent of the brilliant job Tim Curry did in Rocky Horror. Don't believe me, then go rent a copy of Rocky Horror Picture Show and a copy of Terror Firmer. Watch them back to back and then tell me I am wrong and why.

I am very interested in getting the thoughts of people on this specific remake as everyone has their own take on this Cult Classic.

This is the worst idea! Ugh. Why would I want to see watered down remakes of my favorite stuff from the 70s? You can't recreate that kind of chemistry, so why bother trying?

I hope this project gets scrapped.

Transexual gay sex and genetically engineering a sex toy is not even taboo anymore... why are they bothering.

Plus, from all of the 8 times I've been to see the show live, the different renditions have never matched up to that of the movie and Tim Curry.

Well look at Mr. I love bright and shiny.

I knew sooner or later they hit on something that make you see that shinier is not always better.

...in response to this comment by The Movie Whore. Haha. Are you kidding, rocky horror was the epitome of shiny, except for the [all boy] high school stage rendition I took my eldest kid to see a few years ago which was totally devoid of shine and totally gay.

Rocky Horror is dirty rotten bad filmmaking done right. The only thing shiny about it was some of the costumes.

The local theater company here does a great rendition. The guy that does Frank is damn good and even Tim Curry would be proud.

Rocky Horror was originally a piss take on all the B-grade horror schlock movies that were common in the '70's. I believe the original makers of that movie never expected the movie to be ever as popular as it was.

You just can't recreate that.

It's too bad that Troma Entertainment can't do the remake.

...in response to this comment by Dan L.. That is blasphemy Dan.

The original looks the way it does on purpose which is part of what has made it such a legendary film. You can't pretty up what was meant to be ugly. It just doesn't work.
