Meet the Spartans
Mikey 7 commentsIt took a while, but I'm nearly ready to take the 'Dumbest Movie Ever Made' crown from Die Hard 4.0 and pass it on to a movie I can only describe as 100% pure uncut brain poison. That said, we have just walked away from Mike Myers' and from what we saw it made 'Meet the Spartans' look like a masterpiece in comparison, but more on that another time.
When parody is done right, you get . When it is done abysmally, you get Meet the Spartans, a parody in this instance of the recent Frank Miller epic '300'.
In my review of 300 I mentioned that it could easily be considered one of the gayest films ever made. But it's still one of my favourites. And with all due respect to our gay audience, 300's gay sub-text could have easily offered a good focal point for a parody. Think . But instead we are subjected to a series of gags that make no sense or are completely out of context, or make make references to points in popular culture from years ago which constantly had me saying to myself "Oh yeah I remember when that happened. What year was that? It might have been funny way back then".
Every cliché you can think of has been used and much to my annoyance, there is a dance routine which was way way way too long.
Putting it bluntly, every person who had any involvement in this movie should be ashamed to put their names to it. Every person who paid money to see it should be demanding their money back. It's seriously that bad. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Rating: -1 out of 5.
