French law could criminalise promotion of thinness
Mikey 9 commentsParis: French parliament took on an unexpected rule this week that would make it illegal for anyone, including fashion magazines, advertisers and web sites, to endanger health by encouraging or promoting extreme thinness. If passed the law would be the strongest anywhere in the world.
Lawmaker Valery Boyer says that encouraging anorexia or severe weight loss should be punishable in court.

Mind you, having spent a couple of years in France in my youth I can tell you that most ladies (not in their later years) are rake thin.
