D'n'D creator runs out of hit points
Mikey 4 commentsFrom good geek news to sad geek news, we have just learned that Dungeons and Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax has died in his home after battling a long standing illness.
There isn't really much point explaining what D'nD is and what it means to many people. We all know it, we have all played it at some stage of our lives, and Gary Gygax will no doubt be honoured around the world for bringing joy (and feuds!) to many a geek.

Wednesday 5th March 2008 | 12:34 PMIt really is interesting to see the effect that his had on people. My girlfriend nearly cried. Later she got a sarcastic email about it from an old friend. She was not happy. I may have never played but what this man has inspired over the years truly is a contribution that many underestimate.

When you think about it, it's a really novel concept he came up with. Not everyone can truly invent a whole new gaming genre - most games are clones of something else, if you dig back far enough.
