Prehistoric link to modern day crocs discovered
Mikey 3 commentsPalaeontologists in Brazil have unearthed a fossil they claim is the missing link to modern day crocodiles.
The 1.7 metre long fossil is approximately 80 million years old.
Said Ismar de Souza Carvalho:
"This is scientifically important because the specimen literally is the link between more primitive crocodiles that lived in the era of the dinosaurs 80-85 million years ago and modern species,"

Monday 4th February 2008 | 10:12 AM1.7 metres? That is pretty small for a prehistoric carnivore, especially considering the median length for presentday crocks would have to be slightly longer than that... it must have been a young fella.
