Couple who tortured infant to death facing pathetically lenient sentence
Mikey 6 commentsIs it me or is the system becoming more lenient on criminals who commit atrocious crimes? Last week Rodney reported a spammer was jailed for 30 years for selling prescription drugs over the Internet without a licence. Fair enough most people say. But read on...
Today the Daily Mail is reporting that Abid Ikram and Sumairia Parveen are facing a pathetically lenient 14 months imprisonment for deliberately torturing Ikram's 17 month old son to death.
Among the infant's injuries were a broken thigh bone, a broken shin bone, and three fractured ribs. A post-mortem examination discovered marrow fat deposits from the untreated broken thigh had invaded his lungs, starving his brain of oxygen which led to death.
Now I'm no legal guy, but the punishments in these two examples seem to be mixed about.

Wednesday 8th August 2007 | 09:55 PMStill at 14 years, it is painfully light! In cases like this, I am all for having those same injuries inflicted on the parents... I for one would be all too happy to deal out retribution in the name of that poor innocent child!

Is it maybe a mis-print? Could it be 14 years, maybe (which also seems too low)?
