‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ is the policy that has, for the last 15 years, required openly gay and lesbian men and women to stay out of the military (or be discharged) and has forced many other to lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens.

For those in active service, this meant that you could walk around nude or in your underpants amongst those of your sex without feeling the threat of being raped (unless you were in the navy) or being constantly fantasized about as you go about your daily routine of killing things.

Unfortunately, these laws are set to be repealed which means that gay-lords and lesbian…-ladies will now no longer be turned away for their love of berries and banana or oysters.

Admiral Mike Mullen and US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates have supported the move, calling it the “right thing to do”.

“Right”? Right for who exactly? It’s not right for the baby Jesus! It’s not right for Moses or Leviticus… whoever that is!

If I were a Christian right now, I’d be so darn ticked off! After all, I would have voted for the other guy, who was not a Muslim terrorist with ‘Hussein’ for a middle name!

Seriously though, where does this president get off giving rights to humans who are differentiated by what they do in their private lives?

Gay and lesbian people need to stop being gay and lesbian if they want to defend the American people and the way of life that they hold so dear!

At the very least though, it is good to see that the American War Hero, John McCain, who had previously said he would fight for the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ rule to be abolished when the head of the army said it was time, was Christian enough to completely back flip on his promise to do so when the head of the army said it was time!

Thank God that some Christians out there are resolute enough in their defence of good Christian Values that they are willing to take back promises they made in a public forum for the sake of their own prejudices biblical commandments!

McCain did say, however, that “while there was a time that I too found the love and companionship of my fellow American male POWs in my little bamboo cage both gratifying and a little alluring, being homosexual is first and foremost a sin. When our service men and women are out there killing people for the sake of democracy and stuff, the last think that we want them to be doing is sinning!”

The problem is that the Navy as well as other branches, frown upon sex being engaged while on deployment. Navy quarters especially upon carriers are shared with fellow crew mates until your at least an O5, and yet you still share a bathroom.

Having said that, men and women do not share quarters. However if an individual who favored his same sex for "fun" could lead to problems while sharing rooms and living together in such tight quarters. Just my take on it...

...in response to this comment by Papa. Many people in the military are straight out of high school and in their sexual peak, it is wrong to expect so much of these people and yet also to expect them to deny huge parts of themselves.

...in response to this comment by Jake Farr-Wharton. Their choice to join, is exactly that. Their choice to join.

Women are still not allowed to serve on Submarines, the Pentagon is looking into the possibility of allowing women to serve. But the main reason I believe is due to the close quarters and living proximity. You are on a boat for more than 6 months at a time, living within 2 to 3 feet of people everyday. Hard for women to have privacy, as well as the large amount of very horny guys in proximity.

And your right, there are a lot of enlisted kids out of highschool at the peak of sexuality. That would create a huge fratinization problem from the military. Its not only homosexuals, but sex with superior officers as well as other colleagues is strictly outlined and usually under the threat of court martial.
